Hampshire County Council Wins the "2012 Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government Award"

The passenger transport and procurement teams of Hampshire County Council won the prestigious local authority award on account of securing an impressive saving of over £1 million. The council received the "2012 Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government Award" for their excellent performance on the Client Transport Efficiency Project. Reportedly, the team could make a saving of over £1 million in this project for the council.

"This project is a deserving winner as it has enabled us to achieve savings and maximise value for money, while opening up new routes for suppliers who have not previously dealt with us," commented Councillor Mel Kendal- the executive member and deputy leader for transport and environment.

"Online tendering has made a significant difference to the procurement process. We will now be looking to build on this success to improve our procurement processes further and generate even more savings," added Kendal.

The direct hire service option is considered to be a better option than a contract to hire as per the recent survey carried on by the global consultancy Blessing White that surveyed more than 3500 employed professionals across North America between March and June 2012 that revealed that about 56% of the employees planned to stay with the organization for the next twelve months, 33% said that may probably stay with their organization and only 11% respondents replied that they would leave their parent organizations as soon as possible.
