Fat Burning Secrets - Your Weight is Not that Important

That's correct folks. Your weight is not that important. Your body fat percentage is. What is body fat percentage? This is part of the composition of your body. Your body is composed of muscle and bones etc which makes up your lean body mass. Your body then has fat. The percentage of your total mass which is pure fat is called your body fat percentage.
Most people when they start a fat burning weight loss regime tend to concentrate on a goal weight. They focus on getting to this weight and don't realise that body composition is much more important.
Your body fat percentage is a much better indicator of your health. There are different recommendations for body fat percentage levels, but the following come from the American Council on Exercise.

An example of how body fat percentage is a much better indicator of health rather than something like BMI would be "fat skinny" people.
Say I am a woman who weighs 70kg and I am 168cm tall. My BMI of 24.4 tells me that I am in a normal weight range. I then go and measure my body fat percentage and the percentage of my body which is pure fat is 33%. This shows I am actually at risk. I have too much fat compared with lean mass on my body and so I am actually at risk even though BMI tells me I am normal weight range.
The same can go the other way say I am a male body builder who is 193cm tall and weighs 115kg. Of course this weight is muscle! My BMI would tell me that I am obese and yet when I do my body fat percentage testing I have a percentage of 8%. This actually means I am in the athlete class and not at all obese.
Focusing on body fat percentage rather than total mass is a much better option when setting goals. It is a much better indication on where you are health wise. The other reason is that muscle weighs more than fat and so sometimes when you build more lean mass you will see a gain on the scales which is actually good because it means your body fat percentage has dropped and you are healthier and leaner. Your muscles just weigh more!

Is Calorie-Counting Dangerous?

Calorie counting has become a popular practice among many personal trainers, dieticians, and health experts, but many technical colleges in Utah are teaching students that the strict method of dieting may not be particularly beneficial. Recent research is proving that while portion control is crucial to losing excess pounds and maintaining a healthy body weight, it is not the lifesaver that many health professionals claim it to be.

There may be danger associated with calorie counting when people begin to take calorie measures to the extreme and sacrifice essential vitamins and nutrients in the process. The issue with fad dieting programs is often the lack of balance. It seems that the majority of fad diets encourage dieters to consume an above average amount of food within certain food groups at the expense of other important groups. The inventors of these diets normally claim that you're safe as long as you're not consuming food that puts you over the calorie limit specified.

In addition to the lack of balance, there are other factors that make calorie counting an ineffective method of weight loss. Below is a list of reasons why counting calories can be difficult to manage and dangerous to your health.
  • Calorie Counting Puts Pressure on the Dieter-There more you focus on calories, the more you stress out about them. Stressing about calories can lead to obsessive-compulsive behavior and weight gain. Students at Utah technical colleges are learning that pressure is the greatest enemy of weight loss.
  • You Can't Count Calories Forever-Normally dieters will use calorie counting in the short-term to put good habits in place. It is nearly impossible to count calories for the rest of your life, and if you plan to, just look forward to much more stress and headache in the future.
  • Eating More Quality Calories Will Shed Pounds-If you really want the secret to weight loss, consider eating more calories. Don't get too excited. That doesn't mean you can go out and gorge on your favorite fast-food items, but it does mean you can eat more calories if the food meets certain qualifications. Quality should always be considered over quantity. If you feed your body healthy food it will use it more effectively.
  • Eating Better Calories Will Increase Metabolism-Combining healthy eating habits with a consistent exercise regimen will help you burn fat more efficiently than simply counting calories.
Counting calories will not ruin your health if you remain conscious of the end goal, which is to eat quality calories and burn fat. Technical colleges all over Utah are already teaching prospective personal trainers about the importance of a healthy diet. Students at Utah technical colleges are learning first-hand what it means to help individuals reach their personal fitness goals. If you're considering a new diet program, consult with a medical professional before beginning.

Eat Meat and Grow Strong

In this article I'm going to tell you the reasons I believe protein is such an important part of any persons diet. I have worked in the health and nutrition industry for over 12 years and one of the things I regularly see is that clients don't get enough protein in their diet. This often leaves them weak, tired and often sick and for many of my clients also overweight.

From an evolutionary point of view, as humans, we evolved on a predominantly meat based diet (fish also). This covered all of our dietary protein needs and it wasn't until fairly recently that we switched to cultivating grains and other carbohydrate type foods. However, there was still more balance with humans getting plenty of protein in the form of meat and fish and now eggs.

Today we eat more processed and convenience type foods than ever before and consequently our quality and quantity of protein consumption has dropped dramatically. We need good quality protein every day to provide the amino acids (protein building blocks) to run our physiology. From the hair and nails that we grow to the red blood cells that carry oxygen in our blood protein is vital. We also need it to build the bones of our skeleton and the muscles that help us move and exercise.

I'm of the belief that the best way to do this is by regularly consuming meat and fish but I realise that some people, for whatever reasons, choose not to do this. Regardless of where you source your protein you need to get a plentiful and quality supply every day to maintain good health.

From a weight loss perspective you need the amino acids found in protein to build the power house, calorie hungry muscles in the gym that will help create a negative calorie balance and help you lose weight. Also protein in your diet, particularly from animal sources, causes your pancreas to secrete glucagon which switches on fat burning genes and off sets the effect of the hormone insulin which activates fat storage genes.

Another critical factor about animal protein, particularly red meat, which most people don't know is that it's high in carnitine. Carnitine is an amino acid that takes energy and particularly fatty acids into the mitochondria of cells to be burnt as fuel. This is vitally important on any weight loss programme as this makes your metabolism speed up once again creating that negative calorie balance.

In conclusion, you can see from the information that I have presented here that good quality protein in your diet is vitally important for your health and even more so on any weight loss programme. Also due to the advantages that I have discussed I believe that meat and fish are the best sources of this protein due to evolutionary processes. In my experience with hundreds of training clients over my career people don't get anywhere near the required amount of dietary protein each and every day. I encourage you not to fall into this trap and include more protein in your diet.

How healthy is red meat?

Is eating meat healthy?
Well we have always been asking ourselves whether eating meat is healthy or not? The answer is Yes and No. The reason behind this is not all the meat is same. Rather than asking the question whether eating meat is healthy, one should ask which meat is actually healthy. I am a physical therapist and every day I encounter new patients in my clinic. Whenever I try to take their past history I figured out some strange thing that I would like to add up. In the conclusion we will be able to derive the strange facts and whether they are related with eating healthy.

So few days ago I had this patient who came from china 2 weeks ago. The patient had the past history of cancer and hypertension. When I took the blood pressure the systolic by diastolic blood pressure of the patient was 140/90. I normally ask the patient regarding their diet habits and all that stuff when I start therapeutic exercises, this way they don't feel bored with the exercise and it also gives me enough time to actually know them outside their physical therapy plan. So I asked the patient and he reported that he eats pork almost every day and beef 2 times per week. The patient also reported that he eats lots of green vegetables and steamed rice (he is Asian and they tend to eat everything mostly steamed). He also told me that he doesn't eat chicken or turkey and find them tasteless.

Now let's see the scenario of the other patient. This patient is an african-american male 42-years-old. The patient is on the drug for hyperthyroidism, diabetes and stroke. The patient reported of stroke 4years ago. The patient states that he loves eating French fries and drinking soda. He also reported that he eats more of beacon and beef. The patient denies of eating pork as he is Muslim. Now looking at the general habits I asked him if he eats any green vegetables along with the meet. The patient reports that he eats beef almost every day and green vegetables and beans 3-4 times in a week. The patient loves beef burgers and eating them at the McDonalds.

Now let's see the third scenario. The patient is a female 33-years-old with no past history of diabetes, stroke or cancer. The patient's blood pressure is 130/90 and is in the stage of pre-hypertension. The patient is a Caucasian and pretty healthy. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall, loves to play tennis and weighs 160lb. The patient reports of eating chicken, beef and pork 7 days a week by alternating between the three meats. The patient denies of eating any sea food as she is allergic to the sea food. The patient reports of doing workouts 3 times per week for 45 mins. The patient reports of eating vegetables and fruits 2-3 times per week.

All the three cases mentioned above were totally different in age, sex and their geographical native places. However, one thing was pretty common in them and that is their eating habits. All three of them loved eating meat which consists of pork and beef. However, all three of them deny eating chicken and turkey. So what we could see is pork and beef are the main culprits here which might target the increase in the hypertension in all three of them.

WebMD article states that red meat is hazardous to health. Red meat (pork and beef) contains carcinogen which is the main key factor causing cancer. Also red meat contains lots of fats and lipids. If your body activity involves heavy labor and hard exercises red meat is still favorable because you are going to work out anyways. But one should remember that red meat contains high amount of lipid contents and so real workouts is needed to burn those calories. On the contrary chicken and turkey contains lots of proteins which is actually good for health. Protein is need for the wear and tear process going inside the body and so they are building blocks of human health.

So we can conclude here that red meat is the main key factors which can cause hypertension and cancer. If you eat red meat, workouts and exercises are a must. One should not eat more red meat if you have a sedentary life style.

8 Ways To Eat Healthy Before Noon

You can boost vitality and enhance your health by leveraging the importance of a healthy diet into your life. The key is combining several ways to eat healthy, and 8 different tips on healthy living overall, into one daily routine. Essentially, all you need to do is eat a breakfast that provides your body with everything it needs to perform at peak levels all day long. This includes eating foods with high levels of healthy fat, such as bacon and eggs. It also includes packing colorful vegetables like kale and beets onto your plate.

Kale, avocados, coconuts and beats are four of the healthiest fruits and vegetables you can put in your body. Kale is packed with antioxidants and has been shown to dramatically reduce your risk of five different types of cancer. Kale also plays a critical role in detoxing your body. In fact, the isothiocyanates derived from kale's glucosinolates regulate detoxification at the genetic level. Kale has more iron than beef and is high in Vitamins A, C, and K. Avocados also have numerous health benefits, including the ability to help prevent unwanted inflammation. These fruits contain large amounts of phytosterols, carotenoid antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and polyhydroxylated fatty alcohols. Make sure you peel your avocados rather than cutting and slicing the fruit out. The greatest concentration of carotenoids in avocados occurs in the dark green flesh that lies just beneath the skin. Similarly, beets contain an extremely healthy phytonutrient called betalains, which has been shown to provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and detoxification support. Beets should always be eaten raw or lightly cooked because betalains are easily degraded by heat. Finally, coconut oil is a miracle food that has extremely powerful antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties. Oil from the coconut fruits help prevent kidney and gall bladder diseases while protecting you liver against alcohol-induced damage. Consuming the above fruits and vegetables in one meal is a great way to pay homage to the importance of healthy diet.

Eggs, bacon, and garlic provide three tasty ways to eat healthy.Garlic is a natural antibiotic that prevents infection by bacteria and viruses, as well as infection by yeasts and other fungi. Garlic has a unique set of sulfur-containing compounds that protect you against these foreign invaders. Daily intake of garlic has been found to lower your risk of virtually all cancer types. Eggs are packed with choline. Consuming more choline is a critical tip on healthy living because several studies have found that the majority of Americans are choline deficient. Choline is absolutely required for proper brain function and health. Eggs are also packed with selenium, which helps prevent prostate cancer. Believe it or not, bacon is a health food. New research shows that saturated fat, like the kind found naturally in bacon, is more stable and better for you than vegetable fats. One study showed that mice fed a high fat meal after waking remained healthy, while those given a carbohydrate-rich breakfast had trouble processing sugar. Bacon provides a quick way to get good fat into your body, setting the tone for your metabolism.

Finally, don't limit yourself to only finding ways to eat healthy. Consider the many different ways you can drink healthy too. Coffee has been shown to protect your liver and brain. Coffee drinkers are 35% less likely to develop type-2 diabetes and are less likely to have a heart attack or stroke. Two of the coolest tips on healthy living involving coffee include the facts that drinking one cup of coffee reduces your risk of liver cirrhosis by 22% and drinking two cups of coffee a day reduces your risk by up to 44%. In sum, batching your vitality will help you keep the importance of a healthy diet as your top priority. By mixing together kale, avocados, beets, coconut oil, eggs, bacon, and garlic (with a cup of coffee), you can pack 8 tips on healthy living into one morning meal.

Ganoderma, is an Mushroom that has been around for about 5,000 years and was originally reserved for royalty only. It was regarded by the Chinese as the "Miraculous King of Herbs" and by the Japanese as the " "Immortality Plant". So as you can see so far this herb is an powerful herb.

Ganoderma today is infused into Coffee so people can enjoy the second most drink beverage in the world only after water. People around the world drink at least 3 cups an day and if you do the math that's about 450 million cups of Coffee an day that the world drinks, and that's just your regular cup of Coffee. Now as we all been told by our love ones that Coffee is so bad for you.

Coffee- "So Bad"
You see growing up my friends and family insisted to me that Coffee was so bad for you.So I decided to do an little research for myself, so I asked myself "How bad is Coffee really? I found that researchers say Coffee interferes with your body's ability to keep your metabolism and cholesterol levels in check, most likely inhibiting the action of the vitamin foliate B12 and B6.

Coffee also has been linked to increase the risk of stroke and arthritis. Studies have found that the caffeine in Coffee can raise blood pressure and the levels of stress hormones, and if large portions are consumed it can lead to heart problems, jitters and also nervousness.

Now we going to look at the negative effects of regular Coffee and compared it to Coffee that is 100% infused with Ganoderma. Come to find out that regular Coffee by itself can drain you of vital alkaline minerals such as;

*Calcium
*Magnesium
*Potassium

Why was this so important to me? because I loved Coffee like so many of us, and I insist on finding an healthier alternative to my most consumed drink of choice Coffee. During my research I came across an article that was titled " Ganoderma Lucidum in Coffee" so I decided to see what the author had to say, and to my surprise I finally found what I was looking for.

Coffee-" So Good"
I found out that Coffee infused 100% with Ganoderma Lucidum ( Reishi Mushroom) is very healthy for you, and many people call it the " Miraculous King Of Herbs ". Many researchers have found that regular Coffee also diminishes water soluble B vitamins from the body, and there are many more negative facts in your regular cup of Coffee. An number of recent studies by scientific institutions and universities around the country have shown your innocent cup of Coffee has many negative side affects to it. Our cup of Coffee has played an major role in our society ever since the 9th century AD when Coffee was exported from the Middle East. Like I said before millions drink Coffee everyday knowing the sign affects that come with Coffee.

Scientist of these major institutions and universities have shown that the coffee bean has many health side affects to it. The research to uncover the full impact that coffee has on an human being is still ongoing today. Coffee contains caffeine that causes many health problems such as having an lack of sleep, anxiety and depression disorders, and your also at an much higher rate for developing Parkinson's disease.

Coffee can also damage your stomach lining and please don't think that Decaffeinated Coffee is even better cause it's not. Matter of fact Decaf Coffee contains the same oils and acid as your regular cup of coffee which has traces of ethylene chloride in it.

Coffee Infused with 100% Ganoderma Lucidum
Researchers have also found that coffee that has Ganoderma Lucidum in it is quiet healthy for you in many. It supports your quality of life by being able to feel better, breath better and have more energy (without the jitters) to do the things you love.Trust me I know I was just like you couldn't breath, and I was drained all the time and needed that regular cup coffee,
