Army on standby in Kohat

KOHAT: Under a security plan chalked out here, the Pakistan Army would conduct surveillance of the mourning processions in Kohat division, the top administration official said on Friday.

Speaking at a meeting, the Commissioner Kohat division Sahibzada Muhammad Anis said that cellular phone services would be suspended in the area on 9th and 10th Muharram. He said the Pakistan Army would be deployed in Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai Agency and Kurram Agency.

The Commissioner said helicopters would also be used for aerial surveillance. He said pillion-riding would be strictly banned and contingents of Frontier Constabulary and Frontier Corps would be deployed on mountain tops.

He said the curfew would be enforced on the Kohat-Hangu Road and all the exit and entry points to Hangu town would be closed.
