Police write to Australian HC

Karachi

A day after denying that Shahrukh Jatoi, one of the two main suspects in Shahzeb Khan’s murder case, had escaped from the country, DIG South Shahid Hayat told Geo News on Wednesday night that the police had written a letter to the Australian High Commission (HC) to ascertain whether Jatoi had landed in Australia.

“We have sent a letter to the Australian High Commission through the home department in this regard,” he said when senior anchorperson Kamran Khan drew the police official’s attention to a statement reportedly made by Jatoi’s father, Sikandar Jatoi, that his son had already gone to Australia.

When, during his programme ‘Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Saath’, the anchorperson asked him why he had claimed a day earlier that the suspect had not fled the country, he said he had made that claim based on the information provided by the FIA, which looked into immigration matters.
