Govt to foil Qadri’s long march, says Sharjeel

Karachi

The government will foil Minhajul Quran International (MQI) chief Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri’s long march to Islamabad scheduled for January 14 as the country cannot afford any adventure with the general elections fast approaching.

This was said by PPP Central Deputy Information Secretary and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday.

“Long march can not bring any change,” said Memon.

In a statement issued here, he said that everybody knew what the conspirators wanted through the long march.

He added that democracy was the solution to the country’s problems. “Change is only possible through democracy.”

Memon said: “We would not allow anybody to derail democracy in the disguise of a long march.”

The PPP leader said that democrats and free media would expose all the people working for a “foreign agenda” to bring anarchy into the country.

He said they would now allow any such adventure as their leader Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life to save democracy in Pakistan.

The information minister said the MQI chief had changed his stand after December 23 address and did not know what to do.
