Three terror suspects arrested in Lahore

LAHORE: CIA Kotwali claimed on Saturday to have arrested three terror suspects belonging to Punjabi Taliban and recovered explosives and weapons from their possession.

DSP CIA Tariq Ilyas Kiayani told a press conference at CIA Kotwali office the accused had planned terror activities in the City during Muharram.

Police have recovered 7kg explosives, four hand-grenades, a Kalashnikov, 100 bullets, Rs 160,000 and literature of a defunct religious organisation. He said the accused were Punjabi Taliban, residents of Begumpura Lahore and had links with Terhreek-e-Taliban (Rabbani group). The arrested included Arshad Ali alias Usman alias Zubair, Umar Zeb, Amjad alias Asadullah alias Zubair, alias Muhaajir, all aged between 18 and 25 years. The spokesman said the accused used to commit heinous crime to pay money to their leader. They were arrested near Minar-e-Pakistan.
