The Lahore High Court Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan on Monday summoned the secretary of the local government department by December 10 on contempt petitions seeking regularisation of services of contract employees.
The judge issued the order on the contempt petitions moved by Muhammad Asif and other employees of the local government department.
The petitioners said the court had ordered the Punjab government to regularise the services of contract employees of the department in 2010. But despite a long time and various representations before authorities concerned the employees had not been confirmed, the petitioners submitted.
They requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against officials concerned besides directing them to regularise services of contract employees.
