Man dies as bike hits footpath

LAHORE

A MAN died as his bike collided with a footpath in the Gulberg police area, and five other people sustained injuries in different road incidents in the city on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Kashif Mustafa, 30. He was riding a bike on Gulberg Main Boulevard when he lost control over the bike and it collided with the footpath. As a result, he suffered a head injury. He was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Meanwhile, three people, including a woman, were severely injured when a motorcycle-rickshaw overturned in the Sherakot police limits.

According to police, rickshaw driver Khadim Hussain was doing stunts on his rickshaw when the rickshaw overturned. As a result, the rickshaw driver, passengers Safia Bibi and Riaz Ahmed suffered injuries. They were rushed to the hospital where they were given initial treatment and were discharged.

In another incident, a woman and her daughter were injured in a road accident in the Manga Mandi police jurisdiction.

According to police, a 40-year-old woman, Razia and her daughter Aasia were crossing a road when a speeding car hit them. The car driver fled. Both victims were removed to hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

MAID ABDUCTED: A 17-year-old maid was abducted by unidentified persons in the Johar town police area on Monday.

Police on the complaint of her father have registered an FIR.

The duty officer at the police station said that Rabia, 17, went missing on Sunday night. Her employer at G-III Gulberg searched for her but in vain. At last he informed her father.

5 ARRESTED: Gulberg police on Monday arrested five people, including three women, allegedly in objectionable condition from a guesthouse.

According to police, they raided a guesthouse near Jam-e-Shirin Park on a tip-off and found the accused persons busy in merrymaking. He said the accused men and women also tried to flee but the police arrested them. They were identified as Saima, Shama, Chanda, Adnan and Iqbal. A case has been registered against the accused.

MURDER ACCUSED: Mozang police claimed to have arrested killers of a journalist, Asghar Butt.

According to police, police have also recovered the weapon of offence and the mobile phone of the victim person from the custody of the accused persons. He said accused Hafiz Tauseef and Mussarrat Abbas had confessed to the crime. He said they were professional criminals and wanted by police in several cases. He said they had confessed that they killed Butt over a property issue.

TRANSFERRED: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman on Monday transferred Muhammad Azhar, SP Investigation, Bahawalpur and posted him as deputy director, Elite Police Training School, Lahore, against and existing vacancy.

He will also work as SP Traffic, Headquarters, Lahore.
