JUI-S striving to form alliance: Sami

KOHAT: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq Saturday said his party was striving to form an alliance in the name of Muttahida Deeni Mahaz ahead of the upcoming general election.
Talking to reporters after offering condolences over the deaths of Maulana Niamatullah and Maulana Naeem, he said it was time for the religio-political parties to unite and form a joint political and electoral alliance before the election in the country.

He added it was the best available option to foil the conspiracies being hatched against Pakistan and Islam.

He pointed out that the effective platform of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) faced split due to the differences between Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), adding that the MMA had now shrunk into a Maulana Fazlur Rehman-led party.

He said the Muttahida Deeni Mahaz could field joint candidates throughout Pakistan in the election to elect clean and honest members.

He asked Maulana Fazlur Rahman to express his reservations on the idea as they had no personal vendetta. “The JUI-S will explain its position on the contentious issues,” he added.

Maulana Samiul Haq claimed the Difa-e-Pakistan Council had achieved its aims. He added that Kashmir was part of Pakistan and the people would not compromise on this vital issue.

He said the JUI-S was also holding talks with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to join the Muttahida Deeni Mahaz.

He said contacts had also been made with nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for join the Muttahida Deeni Mahaz.
