CDA seals four more agro farms

Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) sealed four more agro farms for violation of building bylaws and non-conforming use on Monday.

An official of the civic body said that the concerned directorates of the CDA had already issued notices to all allottees and owners of agro farming scheme who had enhanced covered areas beyond the allowed limits. Some agro farms were under non-confirming use and were holding different activities in violation of the CDA byelaws.

The plots sealed by the CDA include Plot Nos. C-4 and C-6 at Chak Shahzad, Plot No. 45 of Sehana Agro Scheme and Plot No. 32 of Sehana Extension. The CDA had sealed six agro farms last week.The violations include storage of engineering and catering material, juice factories and setting up of offices.

The CDA had issued new notices to these violators and warned them through newspapers to comply with the CDA rules. The CDA directed all allottees and owners to ensure that the use of the plots should be strictly in line with the terms of allotment letters.

The CDA warned the allottees of the agro farms that in case of non-compliance, all such violations would be proceeded under the prevailing rules and regulations.

However, the CDA is yet to take any strong action to stop increasing commercial activity in residential areas of Islamabad except from issuing notices to owners of these buildings. The residential buildings are being used as educational institutions, private offices, furniture showrooms, beauty parlours, clinics, guesthouses and above all restaurants.

“Now we are flexing our muscles to take action again commercial activity in residential buildings,” an official said adding that they had already served notices on owners of 1,350 houses and others involved in non-conforming use of buildings.
