Two people gunned down over old enmity

TWO people were gunned down by their rivals over an old enmity in the Batapur area on Tuesday.

Police said Imran and Ahmad groups had an old enmity with each other. On the day of the incident, Imran along with Usman and an unidentified accomplice approached victims Ahmad and Azeem and allegedly shot them dead. The accused fled from the scene. Police have registered a case against the accused and shifted the body to morgue.

The members of Ahmad group had murdered the father of Imran some time back.

The enmity between the two groups had claimed the lives of five persons from both sides in the past.

TWO KILLED: Two people died in a local hospital on Tuesday, hours after they had suffered injuries in different road accidents.

The victims were identified as Sajid and Awais. Sajid was hit by a speeding truck in the Kahna area and Sajid was injured when a rashly driven car hit him near Sue-a-Asil.

CURRENCY MACHINES: Police arrested a man at New Ravi Bridge picket on Tuesday and seized fake currency machines, stamps, ATM cards and fake currency from his possession.

The arrested man was identified as Makhdoom Hussain of Pakpattan.

ROBBERY: Some unidentified persons took away valuables worth Rs 6 million from the house of an officer of a sensitive agency in the Sarwar Road area on Tuesday.

Police said some unidentified robbers entered the house of Zaid Malik of Shami Road and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 6 million.

Meanwhile, a bike and two cell phones were snatched from people by robbers from the limits of Ghalib Market police.

In other incidents, robbers snatched Rs 0.2 million and a cell phone from one Aslam in Factory Area. Robbers looted valuables worth Rs 0.7 million from the house of one Javed in the Defence B area, valuables worth Rs 0.6 million from the house of one Majeed at Sanda, valuables worth Rs 0.5 million from the house of one Kashif at Wahdat Colony, valuables worth Rs 0.4 million from the house of one Arshad at Manawan and valuables worth Rs 0.3 million from the house of one Wajid at Faisal Town.

SECURITY: Lahore police have provided two additional Elite Squads to the family of former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Galani for security.

MURDER ACCUSED: CIA police have arrested one Irfan and his accomplices on charges of killing two people in the Kahna area on June 14, 2012.

Police said accused Irfan and his accomplices had murdered Muhammad Majeed and Rehmat Ali on resistance. Investigation DIG Ch Muhammad Shafique and Investigation SSP Babar Bukht Qureshi have announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the police team.

PRESSURE HORNS: National Highways and Motorway Police, N-Central, have launched two-week special campaign to brief the motorists about the disadvantages of pressure horns.

During a meeting with the senior officials of NH&MP, DIG Rai Altaf Hussain said that use of pressure horns distracted concentration of the drivers and could result in serious accidents. He instructed them to take measures to curb this unhealthy trend.

POSTED: Tariq Abbas Qureshi, AIG, development, Central Police Office, Punjab, Lahore, has been transferred and posted as SSP, administration, Lahore, against an existing vacancy with immediate effect.

MEETING: The under-training officers of the 40th Common met the Traffic Additional IG Qalb-e-Abbas here on Tuesday.

The additional IG briefed the officers about the traffic arrangements being made by the traffic police to facilitate the commuters, regulate the traffic and reduce the ratio of accidents. He also gave away shields and souvenirs to the officers.

TRAFFIC RULES: City Traffic police Tuesday started taking action against the vehicles which had no number plates or have improper number plates. The CTO, Lahore, said action would be taken against the violators irrespective of their status.

DIES OF BULLET: A 28-year-old man died of a fatal bullet wound in his house at Shahdara Town on Tuesday.

Police said that Imtiaz was present at the third floor of his house when he sustained a fatal bullet wound and died. However, it was yet to be established whether he committed suicide or he was killed.

WOMAN BURNT: A woman suffered burns when she and her husband’s second wife threw boiling water on each other in the Shahdara area on Tuesday. The injured woman, Shazia, informed police that her husband’s second wife Iram had thrown boiling water on her, as a result, she sustained serious burns. The victim was admitted to a local hospital where her condition was stated to be out of danger.

PRISONERS CAUGHT: Two prisoners have been arrested in Kot Lakhpat jail on gambling charges.

The arrested prisoners were identified as Toto Butt and Chabba Dogar. They are facing death sentence. The jail authorities also seized cash Rs 100,000 and two cell phones.
