ISLAMABAD: The mystery of suicide attempt by woman senator SK belonging to the Pakistan People’s Party from Sindh, remained there as the concerned quarters of the government tried to hide the issue. However, the senator has been declared out of danger after she recovered her senses.
Police claimed that the husband of the senator and other members of her family reached tghe hospital on Friday morning and remained with her, but every member of her family was found tight-lipped and avoided to comment on the incident.
Hospital sources told The News that after the senator got into her senses, she talked to a top officer of Senate on telephone and indicated about a bill tabled in Senate, saying that two top leaders of the PPP misbehaved with her and humiliated her when she raised an objection on the bill.
Sources claimed that it could be the cause of her attempt to commit suicide, but her colleagues, straightaway, rejected the aspect saying that she never bothered about the constitutional issues and never took part in such affairs.
Senator SK has been principal of Pakistan Embassy School, Riyadh, located in Jeddah, before becoming a senator from Sindh on a PPP ticket, sources said, adding that she had close relations with Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif simultaneously, as well as President’s sister Faryal Talpur, Syed Khrsheed Shah, Arbab Rahim and Shagufta Jumani. She was later elected as Senator on the ruling party’s ticket from Sindh.
According to the hospital sources, the senator was taken to PolyClinic in critical condition on Thursday evening, as reportedly, she attempted to commit suicide by taking heavy quantity of sleeping pills for unknown reasons.
A team of doctors washed her stomach as the first phase of her survival and later she was shifted to Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further treatment.
The hospital sources disclosed that she took heavy quantity Diazapine and Lexotanal and fell unconscious. The hospital sources said that her address of residence was mention as ‘Parliament Lodges’.
Police have not yet taken any action against the senator or tried knowing the cause of the suicide attempt as the rulers have directed police to stay away from her and not to open any case against her, a relevant police officer, on condition of hiding his identity, said.
