MNA barred from interference

LAHORE

The Lahore High Court on Monday restrained the ruling party PPP Member National Assembly (MNA) Tariq Anees from interfering in issuance of gas connections to the residents of his constituency in Shakargarh and misusing it for political purposes.

The court also directed Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) to provide connection to applicants without any discrimination.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah issued this order on a petition moved by a resident of Shakargarh, complaining that he had moved an application to SNGPL for gas connection but the MNA was interfering in the matter and connections were provided only to those applicants who would agree to submit affidavits in favour of MNA that he (applicants) would cast vote for him in the upcoming general elections.

He pointed out that if an applicant refused to submit affidavit his application was rejected straightaway.

He appealed to the court to take notice of the matter and direct the MAN not to interfere in issuance of the gas connections.

The court stopped the MNA from indulging in matter of gas connections and disposed of the petition.
