LAHORE
THE
Lahore High Court on Wednesday once again directed the young doctors
not to hold strike and sit-in and approach the government committee
formed to address their demands on service structure.
As
Justice Ijazul Ahsan started hearing on petitions regarding Young
Doctors Association’s (YDA’s) issue, he was informed that no
office-bearer of the YDA had appeared before the court despite order.
The
court expressed displeasure over the attitude of YDA’s leadership. The
YDA’s counsel Raja Zulqurnain informed the court that they had not
received court notices about the appearance.
The judge, however, again asked the counsel to ensure presence of YDA’s office-bearers at 11am.
As
court resumed hearing, Dr Amir Badaisha appeared before it and said the
doctors had not received any judicial order regarding appearance.
He said the doctors had given sit-in call as they were forced to do so by the Punjab government.
He
said the government was delaying the matter of service structure
whereas Gawalmindi police had also not submitted investigation report
(challan) in the courts against doctors in Fahad murder case.
The judge directed the police to produce the complete record of the murder case before the court on Thursday (today).
The
court directed the YDA not to go on strike or stage sit-in as their
matter was pending before the court. The court asked Dr Bandaisha to
give names of three YDA representatives and go for meeting with the
government committee.
Justice Ahsan also asked Ashtar Ali
Ausaf, advocate general Punjab, to arrange the meeting of YDA delegation
with the committee. The advocate general was also directed to arrange a
meeting of the YDA delegation with the Punjab chief minister if the
doctors’ issue was not settled during the meeting with the committee.
