INTELLIGENCE agencies Wednesday rounded up a key accused in Geo News reporter Wali Khan Babar murder case in the Township area.
Accused Waseem, who hails from Karachi, had been hiding in the Township area for one month. However, another accused managed to escape. Waseem was also wanted by police in dozens of cases besides Wali Khan Babar murder case.
He has been shifted to undisclosed place for further investigation.It may be noted here that another main accused in Wali Babar murder case, Polka, had also been arrested from Lahore.
Wali Khan Babar was murdered on January 13, 2011. At least five persons, including the complainant of the FIR and the investigating officers, were also killed by the killers.
KILLED: A youth was killed by a speeding car in the Raiwind City area on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Muhammad Ali. Meanwhile, a 40-year-old woman, Rasheedan and a girl, Aashi, who had sustained injuries in a road accident, succumbed to their injuries.
BOOKED: Factory Area police have registered a case against a van driver on charges of manhandling a traffic warden.
Police said accused Shahzad stopped his vehicle amid of a road and started picking up passengers when traffic warden Khizar Hayat asked him not to do so. Upon which, the driver Shahzad exchanged harsh words with him and later manhandled him.
RESCUERS ALERTED: All the district emergency officers of Punjab have been directed to remain alert and ensure provision of swift emergency ambulance, rescue and fire services to the mourning processions and other citizens during Ashura. Following special directives by the Home Department, rescuers will perform their duties during Muharram and provide first aid besides shifting seriously injured mourners to hospitals.
According to the emergency plan, trained rescuers will discharge their professional duties in different shifts in Punjab. Three special monitoring teams under the supervision of Provincial Monitoring Cell (PMC) will evaluate the performance of rescuers of each district and submit their report to the director general during Muharram.
In Lahore, emergency medical technicians and other rescue officials along with 24 emergency ambulances, 11 fire vehicles, two rescue vehicles and 46 mobile posts will provide medical cover to the processions.
