Slain aid workers laid to rest


SWABI: A pall of gloom prevailed in Swabi district on Wednesday as the slain workers of an NGO who were gunned down on Tuesday were laid to rest amid touching scenes in different parts of the district.

The employees of all the NGOs operating in Swabi are worried in the wake of the attack on the six women and a man working for the Support With Working Solution (SWWS), which runs the Ojala Community Centre. Six women and a male medical technician working for the SWWS were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their van near the Anbar Interchange close to the Motorway on Tuesday.

The condition of the injured driver Abdul Majid, who had been referred to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar due to his critical condition, was said to be stable now.

The dead were buried in Chota Lahor, Yar Hussain, Zaida, Manki and Jalsai.
