Shahrukh Jatoi ‘arrested’ in Dubai

KARACHI: Shahrukh Jatoi, the main accused in the Shahzeb Khan murder case, was arrested in Dubai on Monday, sources told Geo News. The sources said Karachi police were fulfilling legal formalities to bring him back home. Some other sources, however, said the accused had escaped to another country.

Shahzeb, 20, son of DSP Aurangzeb and a close relative of PPP MNA Nabil Gabol, was shot dead on Dec. 25 in the jurisdiction of Darakhshan police station. The family of the deceased had named Jatoi as the prime suspect in the murder that took place near Mubarak Masjid in Defence Phase-V.

Meanwhile, an Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday remanded three culprits in police custody for 10 days for their involvement in the murder case. The accused Siraj Talpur, Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Mustafa Lashari were arrested by the police on Saturday from Dadu, Moro and Karachi respectively. SSP Farooq Awan, head of the Special Police Investigation Unit, produced the accused before Judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon under tight security and requested for a 14-day remand. However, the court granted a 10-day physical remand and handed the accused over to the police. Siraj Talpur showed his willingness to become an approver in this case against Shahrukh Jatoi.

Sources said Imdad Talpur, father of Siraj Talpur, was in touch with senior police officers and matters had been settled between them. SSP Niaz Khosa left for Dubai Monday night. Talking to The News before departing for Dubai, Khosa said if Shahrukh Jatoi was not found in Dubai, they would seek Interpol’s help to track him down.
