No CNG for indefinite period

AFTER suspending gas supply of textile industry in the province, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) closed down filling stations of compressed natural gas (CNG) for indefinite period.

As per announcement made by SNGPL, gas supply to CNG sector would not be restored till further orders. Supply to textile industry has also been closed for several weeks and may not be restored by end of this month. Gas supply to fertiliser industry that used it as a raw material for manufacturing urea, is also out of supply for almost one year.

Practically, gas utility has severed gas to all consumer categories except domestic and commercial consumers. It is feared that problems of motorists would compound in days to come as petroleum products were also not in good supply at filling stations.
