Malik reviews security plans for Chehlum
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Tuesday reviewed security arrangements for Chehlum of martyrs of Karbala and directed officers of law enforcement agencies from the four provinces and home departments to implement detailed instructions issued by the Ministry of Interior in letter and spirit.
Federal Minister for Interior expressed these views while chairing a high level meeting in Islamabad in which law and order situation was reviewed and directions were issued to exercise extreme vigilance during Chehlum of Shuada e Karbala across the country.
The Interior Minister directed the Home Secretaries of the four provinces and Inspectors General of Police (IGP) Islamabad to ensure installation of walk-through gates at the entry points and strict vigilance of the processions.
Rehman Malik also directed the authorities concerned to perform aerial monitoring of processions in the most sensitive localities of the country.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Interior secretary, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Director Genaral (DG) Air Wing and many others.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Fasial Karim Kundi met with Minister for Interior Rehman Malik and apprised him about problems in getting passport as well as issues related to NADRA in Dera Ismail Khan. The minister assured him to inaugurate passport offices in D.I. Khan and Tank soon.
Minister for Interior A. Rahman Malik also met Chairman Public Accounts Committee of National Assembly, Nadeem Afzal Chan, State Minister for WAPDA Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi, Parliamentary Secretary of Finance Ministry Ch. Sajjad ul Hassan.
They briefed him about problems in their areas which the minister committed to resolve at the earliest.
Interior Minister also announced to establish passport office in Bhakar.
He also visited Sweet Home of Pakistan Bait ul Mal and attended a special ceremony in connection with the advent of new year. Chairman PBM Zamurd Khan was also present on the occasion.
He spent the moments of New Year with the children and prayed for prosperity of the country. The faces of children from Sweet Home blossomed after seeing Interior Minister among them.
