At least eight people, including a local government officer and a policeman, were gunned down in different parts of the city on Tuesday.
Abdul Razzaq Baloch, 55, was gunned down by unidentified people, riding a motorcycle, near Salman Heights situated in Gulbahar police limits, while he was going in his Honda Civic car.
His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. According to an MLO, Baloch suffered at least five bullets to the upper parts of his body.
Police seized empty casings of 9m pistol from the spot.
SDPO Gulbahar Iftikhar Ahmed Lodhi said Baloch was a grade-16 officer of the local government.
Baloch was a resident of the Gulbahar area.
Cop killed
ASI Faiz Ahmed, 51, was shot dead by unidentified bike riders near the Habib Bank roundabout in the SITE-A police jurisdiction, while he was going on his motorcycle.
His corpse was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities, where an MLO said Ahmed suffered at least three bullets to his upper torso.
SHO SITE-A Rao Muhammad Rafiq said that the victim was posted at Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and he was targeted when he was going towards his office in Police Headquarters, Garden. ASI Faiz was a resident of Frontier Colony.
It is the first killing of a policeman on the first day of this year.

Imran Baloch, 28, was gunned down by motorcyclists near Muslimabad, Old Golimar, in Pak Colony police limits, while he was going on his motorcycle.
A passer-by informed the rescue team following which his body was shifted to Civil Hospital.
Killing in Shershah
Shahab Khan, 32, was shot at and injured outside his residence near Nayabad in Shershah police area. On hearing gunshots, area people rushed to the scene and took him to the Civil Hospital, where he died. Police said that it was also a target killing incident.
Man shot dead
Aslam, 40, was killed by gunmen in Sector 11-1/2, Orangi Town, in Mominabad police jurisdiction, while he was going on his motorcycle.
Security guard slain
Riaz, 26, was shot dead near a restaurant in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Block 10-A in the Sharea Faisal police limits.
Restaurant staffers took him to a private hospital, where he died. Police said Riaz was a security guard at the Indus Security Company.
Murder in Gulshan
Bakhtiar Alam, 30, was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Block-11, while he was going on his motorcycle.
His corpse was shifted to the JPMC.
25-year-old killed
Ashraf, 25, was shot dead in Gulistan-i-Jauhar police limits. The body was shifted to the JPMC. An MLO said the victim suffered three bullet wounds to the upper parts of his body.
