Unpaid Saddar Town employees launch protest

Saddar Town Administration’s employees have launched a movement protesting non-payment of October and November’s salaries.

On the first day of strike on Monday, they parked their garbage trucks in front of the workshop on the Nishtar Road and observed a two-hour token strike.

Due to non-payment of the past two months’ salaries, the workers are facing a severe financial crisis and are literally staving, said Municipal Workers Trade Union Alliance Chairman Syed Zulfiqar Shah while addressing a workers’ gathering along with other office-bearers.

Shah said due to unpaid utility bills, gas and electricity connections of the workers are being cut off, their children are being expelled from schools.

He announced suspending cleaning affairs and observing another two-hour token strike on Tuesday (today).

He also announced observing a large-scale demonstration on Wednesday, December 5, in front of the Karachi Press Club, the Governor House and the Chief Minister House if their salaries are not immediately paid.
