PTI workers seek probe into Islamabad polls

ISLAMABAD: Ninety two activists of PTI have approached the party Chairman Imran Khan demanding an immediate inquiry through Justice (retd) Wajiduddin Ahmed into what they claim extraordinarily rigged and fraudulent intra-party elections.
“Based on the inquiry of the committee headed by Justice Wajih, exemplary action must be taken against those PTI office-bearers responsible for manipulating the electoral process,” they signed a petition sent to the PTI Chairman.

Titled “Shame Islamabad Intra Party Elections,” they said the party elections remind us of the electoral charade conducted under Gen (retd) Musharraf, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe and Hosni Mubarak of Egypt. “The elections were massively rigged making the entire exercise a mockery and eyewash for public which mounts to betrayal of the cause of transparency, accountability, and justice.”

The 92 signatures rejected the election and the party’s election commission headed by Hamid Khan, Advocate. “We implore the honorable Chairman of PTI Imran Khan to intervene now and make amends before the party is destroyed by the PTI office bearers mentioned above whose sole interest is to serve petty vested interests.”

The letter threatened to seek legal redress including filing a petition with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) under the relevant laws and regulations if the top party leadership continues to ignore their grievances.
