Politicians can improve system: CM

LAHORE

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday that if the direction was right and there was a spirit of hard work and commitment, all hurdles to the way of progress of Pakistan could be removed and the motherland made a garden.

He expressed these views while talking to the media after inaugurating a Gul-e-Dawoodi exhibition at the Jillani Park on Saturday. He said, “We have made Lahore a beautiful city by introducing a modern system of cleanliness and promoting horticulture. The way garbage was removed from the provincial metropolis, politicians can clear the dirt of the political system jointly and hurdles can be removed.” He said the flower exhibition was a welcome step due to which a beautiful environment had been provided to citizens.

The chief minister said flowers had been decorated in a highly professional manner and visitors felt a great pleasure to see them. Shahbaz Sharif said that due to efforts of Solid Waste Management, garbage had been removed from Lahore and now the city gave a more clean and beautiful look. He said that the country could also be made more beautiful by working with the same spirit. Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif formally inaugurated the exhibition of Gul-e-Dawoodi and took round of it.

Energy sector: Senior Vice President of Three Gorges International Corporation, Wang Shaofeng, called on Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif at Model Town on Saturday. Head of investment department of Three Gorges International Corporation, Yao Feixiong, Director Operations Habil Ahmad Khan, head of hydro power projects, Sheng Zhengdong, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Energy and officials concerned were present. Cooperation in various projects of energy and investment in Punjab was discussed during the meeting.

Shahbaz Sharif said the Punjab government was working on various projects of generating energy through its own resources. He said economic activities had been affected due to the energy crisis. He said various foreign companies had shown interest in investment in energy sector in Punjab. “Vast opportunities of investment exist in the energy sector in Punjab. Punjab is ideal for generating energy through hydle, solar and coal and the Punjab government is providing all kind of facilities and incentives to foreign investors in the energy sector,” he added. Wang Shaofeng expressed his willingness to work jointly with the Punjab government.
