Home landscaping for good curb appeal

Curb appeal is a term which many are not aware of. To explain it in layman terms, it defines the view of the house which one gets to see as he/she drives by. The kind of spectacle offered determines the interest of the potential buyer to enter the house or not. As a result to this trend, most of the homeowners have realized the importance of their house's exterior appearance.
One of the significant problems faced by the homeowners is the failure to analyze their house. Living in the house for a long duration makes them unable to look into the house the way the potential buyers would do. In such a case recognizing the loopholes of the house becomes difficult. The only way to tackle this is to change the perception by which the homeowner looks at his/her house. The house should be seen as a saleable commodity and not personal property holding emotional value.

Steps to analyze the home's exterior value
Based upon the practice adopted by me, I have jotted down certain points for your help. Try using these steps to analyze your house the way a potential buyer would do.
1. Stand far away from your home possibly across the street or down the driveway.
2. Look at the house and ask these questions to yourself:
a. What is the first impression you get of the house and its precinct?
b. What are the attractive elements of the house's landscape? Is there any scope of improvement?
c. What are the negative elements of the house's landscape? If yes, can they be improved?
3. You can also do this exercise while you are returning from somewhere outside. Park your car in the location a potential buyer would do.
4. Walk towards the house as if you are looking at it for the first time.
5. Think whether the whole pathway is clean and tidy or carves a negative impression. How can you make the ground more visually appealing?
6. It is easier to detect the faults if the house is looked in a black and white background. For this you would need a digital camera. With the help of it click the pictures of the house. Observe each of its features both in color and black and white background. The difference would help in detecting the areas of improvement.
7. Once you are done with this step, jot down the problematic areas. Accordingly consult with a professional and formulate the best plan to work upon them.
Professional landscapers and deck contractors in king county is quite famous. If you happen to live there, you can explore several professional avenues which specialize in these services.
Some of the common measures which can be taken by you to improve your house's curb appeal are:
• Remove mildew from the nearby ground/roof/driveway and sidewalks
• Clear the bricks and sidewalks from any sort of vegetation
• Trim down the excessive tall trees too close to your house's window or roof
• Make sure that the drain is clean
• Make sure that the lawn is free of weeds.
