Determine your hair type
You can easily determine the type of your hair. Just run your fingers from the tips of hair to the roots, as against the cuticles. If you find that the cuticles are smooth, then it means that you have normal hair. However, if your hair feel rough, then it means that your hair are dry and damaged. Another way for determining the type of hair is to gently stretch a strand of wet hair. If your hair are healthy, it will get back to its original length. On the other hand, dry and damaged hair will break or not snap back to its original length. The oily hair will shaft 2 or 3 inches away from the scalp and they are very glossy and constantly flat.
Shampoo the right way
It is advised that you should not slather the shampoo on your head instantly. Rather, lather it between your palms, because foam grips dirt in a more effective way. Apply just a small amount of shampoo and distribute it evenly throughout. If you have very long hair, then you can also increase the amount of shampoo.
Rinse thoroughly
You are advised to use a clarifying or exfoliating shampoo, at least once in a week, so as to get rid of dead skin or residue build-up from hair products so as to boost the efficacy of any nourishing haircare product, which you use later on.
Apply a mask
People, who have dry hair, can use a hair mask for smoothing and strengthening the cuticles for shine and volume. The ideal way to apply the mask is to apply it down the hair and about 3 inches away from the scalp, and also, along the hair cuticles to the ends so as to seal in moisture. Rinse thoroughly. People with oily hair are advised to skip the hair mask as it will weigh their hair down.
Use a hair tonic
You can use a hair tonic after every wash after you blow-dry your hair. If you apply it on wet hair, then the water will dilute the tonic or stop it from penetrating your scalp.
So, follow these 5 steps to get healthy and strong tresses.
