Alcohol addiction is one of the major issues prevailing all over the world now days. Overuse of Alcohol for a long period can directly affect the brain cells and may lead to various cognitive and memory related problems. Even though the effects may vary from one person to another yet there could a number of contributing factors such as nutritional problems, vitamin deficiencies and much more.

Dementia Types…
Generally dementia are of six kinds, namely, Parkinson's disease, pick's disease, Lewy Body Demetia, Alzheimer's dementia, Alcohol Related Dementia, and vascular dementia. In all most all the cases fading of memories and inability to remember things are one of the early signs. However alcohol dementia can have much more and much severe effects. It may affect the overall intellectual function of the brain including abrupt mood changes, reduced decision making capability, planning and scheduling inabilities etc.

Besides the bad effects on brain, alcohol may also affect the consumer's health and lifestyle in a number of different ways which may include the following things.
Most of the people who consume alcohol heavily on daily basis tend to eat less which can cause deficiency of diet, essential nutrient and minerals. Excess of alcohol can also lead to hindrance in the conversion of thiamine into thiamine pyrophosphate which is vitamin active form.
Frequent vomiting is another effect caused by alcohol as it inflames the stomach lining and also makes it harder for the body to be able to utilize key vitamins and also to store them.

Dementia Treatments…
Treatment for dementia can take up to as long as a year as well depending upon the severity of the condition. The treatments are generally long however you might experience improvements in the initial weeks of the treatment as well; yet complete memory regain can take up to one year. People who already have passed the initial stages of dementia may not ever be able to gain 100 percent of their memories. But nevertheless they can still improve considerably.

Other types of alcohol related dementia treatment may include vitamin therapy, reminiscence therapy, memantine treatment and physical therapy etc. There are also special care homes build for these kinds of treatments.
