Climbing contests held

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Tourism Division in collaboration with Ibex Club and Adventure Club on Tuesday organised 5th consecutive climbing competitions supervised by the Sports Climbing Association at Ibex Club, Lake View Park, to mark the International Mountain Day.

CDA Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that the International Mountain Day is an opportunity to highlight importance of mountains in our life as well as opportunities and resources blessed by the nature in form of these mountains. He said that we are lucky that major mountain peaks of the world are in Pakistan, which are not only the source of water to irrigate our crops but also add serenity and beauty to the natural environment of the country.

The thrilling competitions were participated by various clubs, schools, colleges and universities from various cities. A few institutions and their students with active participation in the competition were, Beaconhouse School, City School, Froebels, Roots School System, Fatima Jinnah Women University, NUST, International Islamic University, Quaid-i-Azam University and climbers from various clubs. Pak Turk School Peshawar, City School Mardan, Nusrat Jahan Inter College Chenab Nagar and Fairy Meadows teams participated from other cities.

President Adventure Club Pakistan, Tahir Imran Khan, congratulated all position holders and announced a 2-day complimentary training course and one month free climbing practice in climbing arena on behalf of Ibex Club.
