Six policemen dismissed for altering murder case evidence

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Islamabad, Bani-Amin Khan following an inquiry report, dismissed six police officials including three inspectors and two sub-inspectors (SI) and a head constable, for their involvement in altering evidences of a murder case, registered with the Sihala Police Station, the IGP Office said.

The IGP ordered the inquiry into a murder case, when he received complaint regarding alteration in documentary evidences to favour the culprits.

DIG (Headquarters) Sultan Azam Temuri, during the thorough investigation, found six police officials guilty and submitted the inquiry report before the IGP.

The DIG, in his report, recommended dismissal of six police officials from the police service, the sources said.

The DIG (Headquarters) dismissed these policemen from police department following the directions from IGP Islamabad Bani-Amin Khan. The IGP said that no one is above the law and strict accountability system is

being followed in the department to ensure effective policing and maximum relief to the citizens.

He said that sluggish policemen would not be spared and those performing will be encouraged and special prizes would be awarded to them.

The dismissed police officers include Inspectors Bashir Ahmed, Inspector Nazeer Ahmed, Sub-Inspectors Liaqat, Muneer Ahmed and Head Constable Khalid.

On March 2, Nayyar Ehtesham was murdered by her former husband Raja Arsalan in an area in the jurisdiction of Sihala Police Station, and case No.211 was registered under section 302/324 PPC. Ameer Afzal Khan, brother of

the deceased, submitted an application to the IGP Islamabad for reinvestigation into the case.

The IGP Islamabad appointed AIG (Operations) Tahir Alam Khan, SP Dr. Khuram Rasheed, ASP Dr. Ghyas Gul as Inquiry officers, who after investigation found the six officials guilty of altering the evidences and favouring the accused and changing the interim report.

Meanwhile, Inspector Malik Basheer Ahmed, who was declared convicted in a corruption case by court had also been dismissed from the police service.

IGP Islamabad Bani-Amin Khan said that strict accountability system will remain continue in future to improve the performance of Islamabad Police.
