LAKKI MARWAT: A would-be suicide bomber was killed in a blast in Mohallah Saidaan in Lakki City on Friday, official sources said.
The sources said the police tried to stop a suspected youth who was trying to breach the security line to reach the imambargah in Mohallah Saidaan. “The suicide vest of the would-be bomber exploded after the police opened fire on him,” the sources added.
Some sources said the would-be bomber also opened fire on the police in a bid to enter the imambargah.The police later defused the remaining portion of the vest carrying explosives. The sources said that legs of the bomber had been found from the spot.
A communiqué of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department said, “A suspected person trying to cross the security cordon at Mohallah Baghban in Lakki Marwat. The police personnel signaled him to stop. However, the suspected person opened fire on the police and tried to run away. The police also fired at him and he blew himself up after the exchange of fire.”
