Karachi situation damaging economy: PTI

LAHORE

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday said that the worse situation of Karachi had damaged the economy a lot and killing of innocent people had become a routine.

In a statement issued here, the PTI central leader said rulers had no interest in solving the problem and they were busy in the political settings. He said that the PTI was watching the situation very carefully and demanding the government take immediate steps for the security of life and property of the common man.

He said that, in the last four and a half years, no practical step had been taken for providing relief to the masses and now murders of one dozen people per day and damage to the public property was a matter of every day.

He said that circumstances in Karachi, Quetta and other cities of the country needed immediate intervention, otherwise, people would have no option but to protest on the streets.

Shah Mahmud Qureshi said that it was condemnable that a major partner of the government, MQM’s chief Altaf Husain was demanding resignation from the government on failing in law and order.

Now the ball was in the court of rulers, he added. Keeping in view Moharram ul Harram, it would be more critical to afford such situation in the big cities where business community had no safety, he said.
