JI voices concern over law and order situationvvvvvv

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) city chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti on Thursday expressed grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, including target killings, extortion, sectarian violence and bomb explosions, in the city.

In a statement, he said that the government had failed to deliver in all sectors and international forces were speedily following the agenda to destroy Karachi, while rulers were busy clashing with institutions.

He appealed to the clerics to play their role against sectarian violence and demanded of the government to come down hard on miscreants.

Talking about the ongoing situation, he said that the recent spree of violence and terrorism in the metropolis was extremely dangerous for the existence of the country. He said sectarian violence was being fuelled through target killings.

The JI leader said that the government had to take fool-proof security measures for Muharram, but it paid lip service to the issue.

He condoled with the families whose members fell victim to the blast at the Rangers Sachal headquarters in North Nazimabad and said that security institutions were also in a miserable condition due to lack of will and inappropriate policies of the government. He said that security institutions were incapable of safeguarding their own personnel and installations. As such, he asked as to how they could provide security to masses.

He said that during last few years, hundreds of law enforcers were killed, but their killers were still at large. He regretted that LEAs became mere spectators and failed even to tackle protests erupting after terrorists’ activities in the city.
