KARACHI: Javeria Mirza, 15, defeated defending champion Waseem Khatri and won eight out of her nine matches to become the youngest winner of the National Scrabble Ranking Tournament, here at Beach Luxury Hotel.
Waseem Khatri had to be content with the second position. Muhammad Inshal secured the third position. Javeria, Inshal and six other players will participate in the World Youth Team Scrabble Championship to be held in Birmingham next month.
Javeria said that it was a big achievement for her to clinch the national title. She added that the victory would boost her morale ahead of the important championship in Birmingham.
