Froebelians stage message-oriented play

Rawalpindi

The Drama Society of Froebel’s International School, Rawalpindi, staged its much-anticipated Annual Urdu Play 2012-13 here on Friday.

Written and directed by Riffat Shahbaz, ‘Ice Cream’ was a thought-provoking and message-oriented play presented in a comic and musical way. The theme revolved around the hopes, dreams and longings of a poor family residing in the heart of Rawalpindi.

Students of upper secondary, Hamza Kiyani as lazy and good-for-nothing father, Newehya Abbas, the grumpy grandmother, Zain Khurram playing ‘Chacha Topi’ and Mustafa Khan as ‘Pir Sahib’ excelled in the roles.

The audience was left to contemplate and cherish

their luxurious lives, which a very big majority is deprived of.

The spontaneous and timely dialogue delivery was applauded and enjoyed by all. Mustafa Khan’s dance performance on ‘Gangnam Style’ was daunting. It was a play, which will be remembered for long.

The principal, Ms. Umber, commended the performances by saying “Each year, I think Ms. Riffat cannot do better than this, but she always proves me wrong.”
