France denounces execution in Pakistan

PARIS: France condemned on Thursday the execution of Muhammad Husain at Mianwali jail which puts an end to the suspension on death penalty observed for the past five years by the Pakistan government.

The decision of implementing of death penalty constitutes a step backward in the evolution of Pakistan towards greater respect for Human Rights. It is a mindful fact that more than 7,000 persons are currently in the death row in Pakistan, France calls for the Pakistan government to re-establish without delay a moratorium and initiate a debate on the abolition of capital punishment, considered a cruel, inhuman and degrading. It is appropriate to mention here that a French citizen Laurent Fabius launched the campaign for abolishing the death penalty around the globe on the 10th of October this year.
