Five POs among 159 held in crackdown

PESHAWAR: The police in a crackdown against criminals arrested 159 persons, including five proclaimed offenders (PO).

A communiqué issued Monday by the office of the CCPO said the police arrested 196 persons separately for pillion-riding which had been banned under section-144 in the city ahead of Muharram.

The police also recovered five Kalashnikov rifles, four guns, 50 pistols, 1,457 rounds and 30 kg hashish in the crackdown, the statement said.

About 37 Afghan nationals were also arrested for staying in Pakistan without legal documents.
