First convict executed in four years

LAHORE: An ex-serviceman, who was condemned to death by a court martial on the charge of murdering his senior, was sent to the gallows at the Central Jail, Mianwali in the wee hours of Thursday.DIG, Faisalabad Range, Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig told APP that both appeals of the convict ex-sepoy, Muhammad Hussain, were rejected by the COAS. Hussain confessed that during the service he had shot dead his senior Havaldar Khalid Hussain at Okara Cantt in 2008 over the issue of ‘honour.’He faced military court martial, which sentenced him to death after a series of long deliberations in which the murder charge was established.
