Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Punjab government of the PML-N has always solved the problems of journalists on a priority basis while they will be extended every possible facility in the future as well.
He asserted that the Punjab government had taken steps to retrieve land grabbed in the journalists’ colony and a large portion of land had been retrieved. On the demand of the delegation of journalists, the CM announced formulation of a committee, headed by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, to resolve all the issues relating to the journalists colony and office-bearers of the Lahore Press Club and Punjab Assembly Press Gallery would be included in the committee. Shahbaz stated this while talking to a delegation of the Lahore Press Club and Punjab Assembly Press Gallery at Model Town here on Thursday. He said that role of the media had become of utmost significance in the present era. He said metro bus project was a great public welfare development project on which less than Rs 27 billion had been spent. He said that a visit to the great metro bus project would soon be arranged for journalists. He said the structure of the project had been so strong structurally that even a train could also ply on this route. During the meeting, various matters pertaining to the journalists’ colony came under discussion.
Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, senior member Board of Revenue, Secretary Information Punjab, Director General Public Relations, Vice-President Lahore Press Club Shahbaz Mian, Secretary Zulfiqar Mahtoo, Finance Secretary, Afzaal Talib, President Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Shahzad Malik and others were present.
Iqbal’s day: Shahbaz Sharif has said that Allama Iqbal is one of those prominent leaders of independence movement who played a leading role in uniting the Muslims of the subcontinent, urging them to struggle for freedom.
In his message regarding the 135th birth anniversary of the Poet of the East, the chief minister said that like Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Allama Iqbal believed that without bringing about a complete change in the thinking of the Muslims, their struggle against slavery of foreigners could not be fruitful. He said that in view of difficulties being faced by the nation, it had become even more imperative to follow the philosophy of Allama Iqbal. He said that on the one hand, Allama Iqbal reminded the Muslims of their glorious past while on the other hand, he gave them good news about their bright future.
