Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that he wanted to give the gift of Metro Bus Service to the people as soon as possible and directed the authorities to remove hurdles to the project and complete all construction work within the stipulated period as no compromise would be made on the timeline. He said that metro buses would reach Pakistan by the end of the current month. He was presiding over a meeting to review the pace of work on the project at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Shahbaz said the metro bus was a unique project of public welfare which had taken the form of a mission and work on the project should be accelerated with a missionary spirit. He said 11 park and ride stations would be set up on the route of the bus. He said all resources should be utilised for the early completion of the project and no delay would be tolerated in this regard.
The CM said there was also need to expedite work on the construction of special depot for metro buses. He said the government was fully aware of the problems being faced by the citizens due to the construction while and he was with the people in facing difficulties and was grateful to them for their cooperation. He directed the traffic police to evolve better planning for maintaining the flow of traffic on the BRT route. Taking notice of the non-completion of the work by the contractors on some sections, he directed them that more labour and machinery should be employed and the work should be completed within the timeline. The CM directed the P&D chairman that case study of the project should be conducted and a comprehensive report be prepared from the launching of the project. He issued instructions for clearing the route and installation of lights for Youm-e-Ashur and Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh and said that the route should be clear for devotees.
Later, the chief minister met the contractors working on various sections of the project and issued instructions to them to further accelerate the pace of work as the timeline would not be extended. He directed the contractors to pay special attention to the quality of construction material and ensure highest standard of construction.
Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the work of the contractor working on the rotary of the MAO College. The PHA DG gave a briefing to the CM on horticulture on the route of the project.
Condolence: Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the demise of Riaz Shah, younger brother of senior journalist of Jang Group, Syed Imtiaz Rashid. In a condolence message, the CM prayed that Allah might rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant strength and courage to the members of the bereaved family to bear the loss.
