Ahmadinejad urges Muslims to unite against US, West

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Ahmadinejad has called upon the D-8 countries to maintain unity among their ranks and if are united, imperialists would run away.

Addressing a group of editors, politicians and intellectuals soon after arrival at the Iranian Embassy here on Wednesday, he said Pakistan and Iran were two neighbouring countries and forging of a trade link between them would benefit the people of both the countries.

Ahmadinejad said that the West and the US were ruling the Muslim world by threatening them and creating internal disputes among them. He said that two billion Muslims should come forward to defend the 1.5 million Muslims of Gaza.

He said that a solution to problems being faced by the Muslim world lies in creation of a just system in their countries adding that we are Muslims and there is no dispute between Shias and Sunnis.

The Iranian president said that America and the West were conspiring to divide the Muslim countries to control the wealth of oil. They make bombs and shower them upon the people of Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, he said.

Earlier, the Iranian ambassador in Pakistan welcomed the guest in Pakistan. The Iranian president on Wednesday evening arrived here to join the D-8 meeting being opened Thursday in Islamabad.
