Diwali is just around the corner, which means we will all be getting a few days off from work to be a part of the festivities. Diwali is one of the most celebrated festivals in most parts of the country and hence we all look forward to Diwali week every year. The last thing one thinks about during this time is work, all that's on our mind is bursting crackers, eating good food, and going out and having a good time. Some of us would even b getting our Diwali bonuses from our workplace to go out shopping and treat the family to a few new gifts.
Most of us just sit and day dream at our desks a few days prior to Diwali, wondering what gifts we're going to buy and where we're going to go out for dinner. Considering the few days off from work we get every year, this is the time of year when everyone is setting off on vacations. Most people have something planned out, whether it's a vacation with family or friends.
Since we are blessed to be living in the beautiful sub continent of India, there is no shortage of places to visit and explore. If your in the mood to relax and put your feet in the sand and enjoy the sun on the beaches of Goa or sit down and sip your tea while staring at the mighty snow clad Himalayas, it can all be done. Most people the world over would have to travel to different countries to experience mountains, beaches and backwaters. However, we are blessed to have all this within the same geographical landscape. We are spoilt with options and can literally choose the type of destination we wish to go to.
I remember I had made a road trip from Mumbai to Goa last Diwali. I have three days off from work and took the other two as paid leave and set of on a nice 9 day long vacation. I made the road trip in my Maruti SX4 with three other friends and it was one of the most memorable experiences ever.
