Four vehicles torched during funerals of JA activists

Karachi

Miscreants torched four vehicles and a hotel in two different police jurisdictions during the funeral prayers of two activists of the Jaffria Alliance on Wednesday

The angry mob torched a bus and a truck in Tamuria, while a Suzuki pickup was set ablaze in the Sir Syed Town police area. The miscreants also pelted stones at the vehicles passing through these areas and also damaged a dumper.

Once the procession reached the Sohrab Goth police area, the miscreants torched a local hotel and a truck. Later, fire tenders reached the spots and extinguished the flames.

Allama Jafri’s murder condemned

Various religious and political leaders have observed that the murder of Shia scholar Allama Aftab Haider Jafri was an irreparable loss to the Palestinian cause.

Jafri, who was shot dead along with one of colleagues in Saddar on Tuesday, was a council member of the Palestine Foundation Guardian.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Palestine Foundation of Pakistan leader former MNA Muzaffar Ahmed Hashmi, central spokesperson Sabir Karbali, Jamiat Ulema Pakistan’s Allama Qazi Ahmed Noorani Siddiqi, Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s Maulana Sadiq Raza and Pakistan Awami Muslim League’s Advocate Mehfooz Yar Khan demanded that those responsible for the scholar’s murder should be arrested immediately.

They also maintained that the Allama’s killing in broad daylight had exposed the failure of the city’s law enforcement agencies. They termed the murder a US and Zionist conspiracy.

They vowed to continue Jafri’s mission to free Palestine from the illegitimate occupation of a Zionist regime. They paid tributes to Jafri for spending his life struggling for the liberation of Palestine and supporting its oppressed people. They also noted that the scholar was a symbol of unity between Sunnis and Shias.
