An activist of a nationalist party was injured in a clash between two groups in Gulshan-e-Jauhar area in the Sharea Faisal police limits on Tuesday.
Later, the police and Rangers conducted an operation and arrested eight suspects and seized arms and ammunition.
Activists of Jeay Sindh reached Rabia City and tried to enter some flats, to which supporters of the Awami National Party resorted to firing. As a result, a clash ensued between the two parties. An activist of Jeay Sindh was injured during the firing. Later, law enforcement agencies’ personnel cordoned off the area.
The Rangers and police entered Rabia City and arrested eight activists along with the injured man and seized arms and ammunition from their possession.
Four die in mishaps
Four people were killed in different incidents on Tuesday.
Aqeel (12), son of Riaz, was run over by a truck and died near Baldia Town, while he was crossing a road.
Muhammad Ali, 25, died of electrocution near Water Pump Chowrangi in the Yousuf Plaza police area, while he was repairing electricity wiring at an under- construction building.
Sabir, 70, a private security guard, was killed when his pistol accidentally went off at his residence in Korangi in the Awami Colony police jurisdiction, while he was cleaning it.
An unidentified man of about 35 years came under the wheels of a train engine near the Cantt railway station, while he was crossing the tracks.
Double murder
Orangi Town police on Tuesday arrested four men for allegedly killing two people over the elopement of a couple.
Ghulam Raheem, Muhammad Bukhsh, Luqman and Imran Ali were held during raids, which were conducted hours after the double murder. Eleven other suspects are still at large.
SDPO Zahid Hussain said 15 gunmen had barged into the house of a man, Javed, in Baloch Goth, and on not finding him entered into an argument with his cousins, Ayub, 45, and Razi, 32. During the argument, the gunmen fatally shot them and fled the scene.
The bodies were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortems.
The police official said Javed had eloped with his girlfriend, Shahzadi, resident of the same area, and were to get married on the day the killings occurred. The attackers were said to be Shahzadi’s family members.
