Vegetable, fruit prices decline

LAHORE

PRICES of vegetables and fruits have registered a declining trend with the arrival of new seasonal crops in the market however the government authority to implement the official rates is still not seen.

Ample supply of all seasonal vegetables has arrived in the city market while seasonal fruits’ supply is also gradually improving. Almost all seasonal fruits and vegetables are available in the city markets. However their prices are varying in different localities, exposing the writ of the government to control the overcharging and artificial price hike.

The demand and supply defines the price in the market economy but this rule seems to have failed in Pakistan due to lack of interest of government to control the artificial price hike caused by overcharging.
