Tribesman seeks release of brother from forces’ custody


PESHAWAR: A tribesman from Bara, Khyber Agency appealed the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) and corps commander, Peshawar on Monday to secure safe release of his brother allegedly detained by the security forces.

Speaking at a press conference, Zarkhel, resident of Bainai area in Bara, said the personnel of Frontier Corps and Mehsud Scouts along with other security forces raided their house on August 29, 2010 and arrested his brother Khadimullah.

He said they also arrested 20 other persons from the same area but released them after two weeks while his brother is still in their custody.

“My family is suffering mental agony as we don’t know his whereabouts. We don’t even know if he is alive or dead,” he said.

He asked PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani to trace his brother’s whereabouts and recover him from the custody of the forces forthwith.
