The Anti Extremism Cell (AEC) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted different raids on Sunday and arrested four suspects, including a leader of Lashker-e-Islami Muhammadi (LIM), for their alleged involvement in murder, robbery and other cases.
The police claimed to have recovered two Kalashnikovs, two hand grenades, two 222 rifles, two TT pistols, looted crockery, one container and a car from their possession.
According to SSP Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Khan, acting on information they raided hideouts near Paracha Chowk in Shershah police limits and arrested a LIM leader Muhammad Abid alias Ali after a brief encounter.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he had killed more than 20 people in the city, including the murder of Ahmadi doctors in Gulshan-e-Iqbal in 2002 and nine Christian NGO workers in Rimpa Plaza in the same year.
He revealed that he took training from Waziristan and he along with his supporters formed a new group Lashker-i-Islami Muhammdi.
In another raid, the same police party arrested Shazad, Nazeer Muhammad and Gul Muhammad from Northern Bypass in Mauripur police jurisdiction after a brief shootout and seized two Kalashnikovs, two 222 rifles, one TT pistol and looted crockery worth 2.6 million rupees, besides a car and a container from their possession.
