PESHAWAR: A jirga called by the political administration of the Frontier Region (FR) Peshawar has set a three-day deadline for the recovery of 23 Levies personnel kidnapped by the militants a day earlier.
A source said the elders of Hassankhel and Janakor areas sought three days time from the government for making efforts to help recover the kidnapped security personnel.
The Jirga convened by Habibullah Arif, the acting district coordination officer (DCO) Peshawar, who also happens to be the political agent for FR Peshawar, has been given three days for securing safe recovery of the kidnapped officials by using their influence in the area.
“Action would be taken against the tribes under the FCR if they failed to ensure safe recovery of the kidnapped men,” an official said. Taliban claimed the kidnapping of 33 Levies personnel along with arms and ammunition.
