Imran Khan pledges women healthcare funds

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said his party would allocate special funds for healthcare of women, besides ensuring their rights in every sector.

Addressing a seminar titled “Justice for women in Pakistan” organised by PTI women wing at Aiwan-e-Iqbal Sunday, Imran said role of women was vital for making or breaking of a society and claimed that PTI would become the first political party, which ensured equal rights and opportunities for the women if voted to power in next general elections.

Talking about PTI endeavours for empowering women, he said PTI would ensure implementation of laws relating to women share in their family’s inheritance, besides special loans for women entrepreneurs. He said transport facilities for women would be improved and they would be provided equal opportunities in education sector, as women’s education was a must for creating a balanced and progressive society.

Imran said that education budget would be increased five-fold from the current meagre levels of less than two percent to specially benefiting the women.

He added that PTI would give special preference to Balochistan and NWFP in education sector, where current literacy rate was eight percent.

Imran added that PTI would provide career counselling to female students in colleges and universities along with a five percent quota in jobs, which include the disabled women. PTI chairman said that the incidents of heinous crimes and injustices against women could only be controlled effectively when women would be given equal opportunities in each sector of the country and PTI would ensure women representation in all sectors if voted to power.
