By-polls Rigging charges a conspiracy: Sana

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah has said Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi, by not accepting the results of by-elections, has expressed no confidence in an independent, autonomous, impartial and unanimous Election Commission of Pakistan which is part of a conspiracy to make the results of general elections doubtful.

Commenting upon a speech of Pervaiz Elahi in a public meeting, Rana Sanaullah said an independent and autonomous Election Commission did not suit the Chaudhry brothers as they were in the habit of contesting elections by constituting an election commission of their own choice. He said, “The result of the first by-election held under the impartial election commission has exposed the popularity of the Chaudhry brothers in Gujrat. If they analyse their politics, they will not see any achievement except the killing of innocent children at Lal Masjid, claims of electing a dictator in uniform ten times and the loot and plunder committed by them.”

He asked Pervaiz Elahi was deputy prime minister of which country as he himself was criticising the election commission and the administration. He asked Pervaiz Elahi that what message he wanted to convey to the people of Pakistan and the entire world by criticising the national institutions.

He said allegations of rigging by Ch Pervaiz Elahi were so baseless that the election commission had not taken any notice of them. “If Pervaiz Elahi is fond of making surveys, he should see the report of the renowned institution Transparency International which shows high level of corruption in the federal government and transparency in the Punjab government of PML-N,” he added.

He said that results of by-elections had perturbed opportunists and the gang involved in the loot and plunder and they had become nervous on the success of the N-League. “Ch Pervaiz Elahi and his allies instead of raising a hue and cry over the humiliating defeat in the elections should first see their worst performance during the last four and a half years.”
