A low intensity blast took place outside a cement factory in the Quaidabad area late on Sunday night; however, but luckily no casualties were reported.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kamal Khan of the Quaidabad Division said that reports came had come in of an explosion on Sunday night outside the Falcon Cement Factory near Dawood Chowrangi. A police mobile unit rushed to the scene and also called in the Bomb Disposal Squad as well as the forensics division. He added that when the law enforcers reached the spot, they found that the main gate of the factory was damaged, but there were no injuries.
Investigation revealed that two unidentified motorcyclists stopped in front of the factory gate and lobbed a cracker-like bomb before speeding away. SDPO Khan said that the explosives used in the bomb were locally made.
He added that the owner of the factory had never lodged an extortion compliant at the police station, but the law enforcers were investigating if there were threats from any group.
