PESHAWAR: Another faction of the Pakistan Muslim League was launched at a function here on Sunday at a time when almost all political parties have stepped up activities for the upcoming general election.Muazzam Butt, who will lead the Progressive Muslim League (PML) as its chairman, has actually renamed the PML-Qayyum faction of the party.
Addressing the launching ceremony, Muazzam Butt said he wanted to bring about real change by breaking the monopoly of landlords and time-serving politicians in order to empower the neglected sections of the society.
“We will run the PML in accordance with the vision and ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. All segments of the society will constitute its rank and file irrespective of their colour, caste and creed to make it a progressive party in the real sense,” he declared.
Muazzam Butt said his party’s mission was to establish a society on the principle of peaceful co-existence and to work for making Pakistan a prosperous and developed country. He made the commitment to drive the country out of the prevailing morass and strive for ensuring basic rights to the citizens. “We are not greedy for power, but want to establish a society based on the principles of justice,” he claimed.
Shahid Raza, Aurangzeb Khattak, Waheed Kamran, Hashim Raza, Shahab Khattak and Yusuf Salim, the guest of honour, also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the party’s vision. They said that in the existing system the politicians exploited the workers and hoodwinked the people to get power.
The new party’s constitution envisages investing in the field of human engineering, addressing the energy crisis and providing basic amenities of life to the people free of cost. It also envisions developing the agriculture sector by utilising every inch of the available land to make the country self-sufficient in food.
The rectangular flag of the party has dark green colour carrying white crescent in the centre, with blue and red vertical bar at the mast. The red colour shows struggle, blue signifies patience and harmony and the stars in the centre represent the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Provincially Administered Tribal Areas, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The stars in the corners represent the four provinces.
